NDIS Oral Care Assistive Technology Notes for OTs

Oral-care assistive technology should be considered through the person's individual support needs, daily living goals, current barriers and practical environment.

What evidence may be useful

When an OT or support team is considering an oral-care product, useful notes may include:

• The current brushing barrier and its functional impact
• Previous strategies or products trialled
• The level of support currently needed
• How the proposed product may support a daily personal-care routine
• Who will set up, supervise, clean and maintain the product
• Any safety, sensory tolerance or dental review considerations

Where Arco may be relevant
